Our experienced crew can tell you all about this beautiful island’s history and why it is among the best diving hotspots in the world.

Our boat captains are born and raised in Roatan and have been on the ocean all their lives, knowing every inch of this Caribbean island. They are competitively recruited to ensure we provide the best staff possible to our guests.

Edison-retouchEdison was born in Roatan and has been a sea captain here for 12 years. He knows the North Shore like the back of his hand. Edison is very customer oriented and guests always have a good time on his boat. When not on the dive boat you might find Edison hitting home runs for one of the local baseball teams.

Tex-retouchTex is Roatan-born and joined the staff at Black Pearl Divers in September 2013, although he has been doing most of our fishing charters for the last year. His duties are primarily with our fishing charters, but he also captains our dive boats as needed. Tex has been involved with fish charters for the last 7 years and has been on the waters here all his life. Tex has a keen sense of where the fish are, coming from a family that has been involved with fishing and diving here on the island for years. This father-of-one enjoys both deep sea and flats fishing. Want to catch some fish to eat or possibly that trophy? Then join Tex on the Mr. Marlin.

DSC02377 (1)Carolina is married to Alessandro and a Guatemalan native too. She is not only a partner in the company, but the main support structure for Alessandro’s work and vision. Carolina is in charge of activities and tours for Black Pearl Divers and Premium Reef Tours, and can often be found chatting with new arrivals to the Pristine Bay Resort on how to better maximize their fun time on the island. She also oversees the studies of their 3 kids, two of whom are certified divers already, and also assists Alessandro on several administrative tasks. Carolina is also a professional make up artist so if you plan on having a special dinner during your visit she can make you look amazing!

Underwater Selfie!!!Born in Guatemala, Alessandro spent his early years helping his dad on the weekends with the family’s tour operating business. He attended the Metropolitan and American Schools in Guatemala, and then did his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Finance at Texas Christian University – TCU – in Fort Worth, Texas. Back home after college he worked for the Tourism Board for two years working his way up to Marketing Director overseeing a yearly budget of over $10 million. He then left the public sector to start his own tour operating business under the franchise name of Gray Line Tours, which he expanded for the following years. After promoting the Gray Line brand to thousands of land based and cruise ship passengers it was time for his own brand, so Blue Planet Tours was born in Guatemala and a few years later Premium Reef Tours in Roatan. Black Pearl Divers was born in early 2012 as the fulfillment of a life-long dream that started back in TCU when he took a Scuba Diving elective class and got certified as an SSI Open Water Diver. These days he still travels frequently out of his home base in Roatan, but can often be found diving with his kids or hunting for the invasive Lionfish during the weekends!
